【摘要】:TheATLvalueisusedtosetthebreak-awaystrengthofaweak-linkdevice,ortosetotherequipmentusedtolimitpullingforceduringpull-ininstallationofpolyethylenegaspipe,ortodetermineifpullingequipmentcanextertpullingforcegreaterthantheATLvalueforthepolyethylenegaspipebeinginstalled.TheATLvalueisdeterminedbeforegaspipeinstallation.1.1Thispracticeprovidesameanstodetermineanallowabletensileload(ATL)valueforapolyethylenegaspipethatistobeinstalledundergroundusingmethodsthatpullthepipeintoatrench(cutorplowed),borehole,casingpipe,orthelike.TheATLvaluetakesintoaccountpipesize,tensileyeildstrength,pipetemperature,andpullingloadduration.1.2TheATLisusedtosetthebreak-awaystrengthforax201C;weak-linkx201D;device,orasalimitsettingforotherdevicesthatcontrolthemaximumpullingforceexertedbyequipmentusedtopullpolyethylenegaspipeintoanundergroundlocation,ortodetermineifpullingequipmentcanextertpullingforcegreaterthantheATLvalueforthegaspipebeinginstalled.Aweak-linkdeviceisinstalledwherethepipepullingequipmentisconnectedtothepolyethylenegaspipe.IfpullingloadexceedstheATLlimit,thedevicede-couplesthepipefromthepullingequipment.Othermeasuresorequipmentthatlimitthepullingforceonthepipearealsoused.WhentheATLvalueiscomparedtothepullingforcedevelopedbythepull-ininstallationequipmentandequipmentcannotextertpullingforcegreaterthantheATLvalue,aweak-linkorotherdeviceforlimitingthepullingforceisnotnecessary.1.3Thispracticedoesnotaddressweak-linkdevicedesignorrequirements,nordoesitaddressthedesignorrequirementsforotherequipmentorproceduresusedtolimitthepullingforceappliedtopolyethylenegaspipeduringpull-ininstallation.1.4Thispracticedoesnotaddressinstallationmethodsorproceduresemployedforpull-inofpolyethylenegaspipe.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
