【摘要】:Measuresobtainedbyaresponse-typesystemdependprimarilyonthevehicledesignandcondition,theload,themeasuringspeed,andahostofenvironmentalconditions.Evenwithcontrolofallsignificantvariables,theresponseofeveryvehicleisunique.Thus,rawmeasuresfromsuchasystemarenotreproduciblewithothersystems.Thecalibrationdescribedinthispracticeprovidesamethodforconvertingtherawoutputofaparticularresponse-typesystemtoareproduciblestandardroughnessscale.Theresponseofavehicletoroadroughnessisacomplexphenomenonthatcannotbesummarizedinalaboratorytest.Therefore,thecalibrationismadethroughcorrelationwithstandardroughnessindexvaluesestablishedforcalibrationsitessituatedonrepresentativeroads.ThedatafromthecalibrationsitesareanalyzedtodetermineanequationtoestimatethestandardroughnessindexfromanRTSN.TheestimateofthestandardroughnessindexmadebytransforminganRTSNissubjecttothreetypesoferror:RandomErroroftheResponse-Type-System(Repeatability)8212;Thiserrorincludesoperatorerrorandvariabilityintheresponseofthevehicleandothercomponentsoftheresponse-typesystem.Itcanbereducedbyperformingrepeatedmeasurementswiththeresponse-typesystemandaveragingtheindividualmeasurementstoestimatethetrueRTSNforasite.AppendixX1describesatestmethodfordeterminingthemagnitudeofin-userepeatabilityerror.Note18212;Thelengthofthesiteorsitesusedtoestimatein-userepeatabilityshallbeequaltotheminimumlengthofthetestsectionstobesurveyedbytheresponse-typesystem.Thismayrequiretestsitesthatarelongerthanthoseprofiledforthecalibration.BiasErrorintheCalibrationEquation8212;Estimatesofthestandardroughnessindexarebiasedifthecalibrationequationisincorrectorifnocalibrationequationisused.Thepurposeofthisstandardpracticeistoreducebiastoanegligiblelevel.Ifdesired,themagnitudeofbiasremainingaftercalibrationcanbeestimatedfromdatacollectedinthecalibration.StandardErroroftheEstimate(ErrorDuetoInteractionsBetweenSiteEffectsandResponse-TypeSystemEffects)8212;Thiserrorisconstant(abias)foraparticularcombinationofresponse-typesystemandsite,butitisrandomwithsiteselection.Ultimatelyitlimitstheaccuracyoftheestimateofthestandardroughnessofasitemadewitharesponse-typesystem.Theerrorcanbeestimatedfromdatacollectedinthecalibration.Thestandarderroroftheestimateestimatestheerrorduetophysicaldifferencesinresponsebetweenaparticularresponse-typesystemandthestandardroughnessindex.Itcannotbereducedbyamathematicaltransform.Threephysicalvariablesthatarecontrollableandthatinfluencethestandarderroroftheestimatearevehicletestspeed,shockabsorberdampingstiffness,andvehicletirepressure.Formostvehicles,maximumreproducibilityofstandardroughnessindexestimatesisobtainedbyadoptingatestspeedof80km/h[50mph],byequippingthevehiclewithstiffshockabsorbers,andbymaintainingastandardtirepressure.(Seealso8.2.)Periodicverificationisessentialtoensurethatthecalibrationremainsvalid.1.1Thispracticedescribesequipmentandproceduresforthecalibrationofsystemsusedformeasuringvehicularresponsetopavementroughness.Suchsystemsarereferredtoasresponse-typesystems.(SeeTestMethodE1082.)1.2Theresponse-typesystemincl......
