【摘要】:CurrentU.S.regulationsrestricttheamountofleadthatmaybepresentinconsumerpaintproductstolessthan0.06%basedonthetotalsolids.Thistestmethodprovidesarapidmeansforscreeningpaintstodeterminecompliancewiththoseregulations.Thetestmethodmaybeadjustedtomeetregulationswithadifferentlimitonleadcontent.1.1Thistestmethodisintendedasascreeningtesttodetermineifthesolidsinapaintcontainmorethan0.06%lead.Thetestdescribedcandifferentiatebetween0.05and0.06%.Paintsgivingaresultgreaterthan0.05%shouldbeanalyzedquantitativelyforleadusingTestMethodD3335.ThistestmethodprovidesamoredefinitiveandreliablescreeningtestthanTestMethodD3618.1.2Thereisnoreasontobelievethathigherlevelsofleadcouldnotbedeterminedbythistestmethodprovidedthatappropriatedilutionsandadjustmentsinspecimensizeandreagentquantitiesaremade.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
