【摘要】:Thecoefficientoflinearthermalexpansion,x03B1;,betweentemperaturesT1andT2foraspecimenwhoselengthisL0atthereferencetemperature,isgivenbythefollowingequation:whereL1andL2arethespecimenlengthsattemperaturesT1andT2,respectively.x03B1;is,therefore,obtainedbydividingthelinearexpansionperunitlengthbythechangeintemperature.Thenatureofmostplasticsandtheconstructionofthedilatometermakex2212;30to+30x00B0;C(x2212;22x00B0;Fto+54x00B0;F)aconvenienttemperaturerangeforlinearthermalexpansionmeasurementsofplastics.Thisrangecoversthetemperaturesinwhichplasticsaremostcommonlyused.Wheretestingoutsideofthistemperaturerangeorwhenlinearthermalexpansioncharacteristicsofaparticularplasticarenotknownthroughthistemperaturerange,particularattentionshallbepaidtothefactorsmentionedin1.2andspecialpreliminaryinvestigationsbythermo-mechanicalanalysis,suchasthatprescribedinPracticeD4065forthelocationoftransitiontemperatures,mayberequiredtoavoidexcessiveerror.Otherwaysoflocatingphasechangesortransitiontemperaturesusingthedilatometeritselfmaybeemployedtocovertherangeoftemperaturesinquestionbyusingsmallerstepsthan30x00B0;C(54x00B0;F)orbyobservingtherateofexpansionduringasteadyriseintemperatureofthespecimen.Oncesuchatransitionpointhasbeenlocated,aseparatecoefficientofexpansionforatemperaturerangebelowandabovethetransitionpointshallbedetermined.Forspecificationandcomparisonpurposes,therangefromx2212;30x00B0;Cto+30x00B0;C(x2212;22x00B0;Fto+86x00B0;F)(provideditisknownthatnotransitionexistsinthisrange)shallbeused.1.1Thistestmethodcoversdeterminationofthecoefficientoflinearthermalexpansionforplasticmaterialshavingcoefficientsofexpansiongreaterthan1x00D7;10x2212;6/x00B0;Cbyuseofavitreoussilicadilatometer.Atthetesttemperaturesandunderthestressesimposed,theplasticmaterialsshallhaveanegligiblecreeporelasticstrainrateorboth,insofarasthesepropertieswouldsignificantlyaffecttheaccuracyofthemeasurements.Note18212;ThereisnosimilarorequivalentISOstandard.1.1.1TestMethodE228shallbeusedfortemperaturesotherthanx2212;30x00B0;Cto30x00B0;C.1.1.2Thistestmethodshallnotbeusedformeasurementsonmaterialshavingaverylowcoefficientofexpansion(lessthan1x00D7;10x2212;6/x00B0;C).Formaterialshavingverylowcoefficientofexpansion,interferome......
